For those of you who have been with IPS for some time you may have been aware of a previous announcement regarding the development of two separate products called Nexus and Dynamic. Nexus was to be an ecommerce billing system and Dynamic was to be a content management system.

As we developed these products the Internet market had changed quite a bit so we have made the decision to totally discontinue Nexus and Dynamic production as they were. We know many of you were looking forward to either Nexus or Dynamic as they were first intended and we apologize if this disrupts your plans.

Instead we have decided to create a new product that combines the previous goals of ecommerce and content management along with a host of features including customer management, support, business organization, and a modular structure in which features are only limited by our imagination.

Since everyone at IPS loved the term "Nexus" to describe this system we decided to recycle that name and so IP.Nexus was born. IP.Nexus is a complete business management suite which includes many of the previously stated goals along with so many more. We look forward to releasing this new product line.

It is worth noting that this time around the new product is nearly complete rather than an idea in development. Expect a lot more information including the first public betas in the coming weeks! Watch our announcements forum and this blog for more information.

Well the video of it looks fantastic and it looks like it will be a great product.

So basically, the new IP.Nexus is now a combination of the old IP.Nexus and IP.Dynamic??

Yes, though you can still opt to get just the Billing modules, or just the CMS module (or, you could optionally purchase both if you needed to, and manage it all from one interface).

Does not change my plans any cuz I guess I thought they were already the same product.
Guess I was seeing the future or some thing LOL.
Feel a little bit embarrassed about that though. But hey it makes since to me to do it this way.

Not sure if I will stop using ocportal though but hey you never know I might.
I am already thinking about stop using ocPortal's gallery mainly cuz I want ecards.

I should mention your product will be better then subdreamer by far cuz thats a piece of junk lol. mkportal is the same way.

So will IP.Nexus become the new staging ground for the IPS product line? In other words all applications including the IPB integrate tightly with it?

It's the staging ground for our business product line, IPB and the community product line will remain separate. Having said that, there will be integration options available between the two platforms.

Would this be via converge?

If so, would it be best to include converge as part of Nexus?

My reason for asking the question, I have been looking for a CMS for my website but wanted to allow user integration between the CMS and the boards but no system offered that, I saw that IPD was in devolpement and was waiting for a beta release to test it all out.

I understand that the sql databases would be different, but to have the option to integrate with ease would be fantastic.

I am now wondering the same thing as I would only get it if it worked with IPB.

Isn't Nexus already supported by Converge, therefore can't you just add Nexus as a application to the Converge framework and users would be integrated between the CMS module and IP.Board?

I believe if they are set on the same domain, that should appear possible!

Yes, Nexus supports Converge. Think about it - we use Converge to integrate our company forums and the client area on our main site already. :) You use the same login for the client are as for the company forums.

I am wondering if we have to use converge to use nexus

I'd assume you don't have to; however the applications would then be standalone; and login data would not be shared between.

I would prefer Dynamic and Nexus as seperate products. You would get a lot less sales if you merged the products since I am assuming that these merger would cost a lot more compared to the individual products.

What I am mainly wondering about is if with this merge you guys have an idea on when you want or expect to release it. Although developing stuff myself I know the general idea is: "when its done", it has been so many years in development that I ask the question anyways :P

I have several questions about Nexus for quite a long time.

  1. Will Nexus work like Amazon or Ebay selling real solid things or just selling software? If selling software, will Nexus support transmission resuming at break-points download tools to download software over than 1GB?
  2. Will Nexus be integrated with Point System so that users could use posts to exchange some points on purchasing things with a discount?
  3. Will Nexus need extra security settings on the server than IPB?
  4. Will Nexus be secure enough for the users to make reliable online bussiness?
  5. Will Nexus support multilingual?
  6. Will Nexus have some socket features for the users if they want to make some Client/Server software which need an online validation with Nexus?
Thanks for the answer.

Perhaps you should copy and past the questions into the Nexus Thread. (If you haven't done that)
