  1. Perhaps the word "crowdsourcing" is not the most appropriate, as we're discussing much smaller amounts than the average, but in my experience, this is what often happens: 1- User a wants xx idea to be implemented and is willing to pay for it. He requests a quote (estimate)2- Estimate is presented (not always, but often privately) by coder b.3- User a asks around if anyone interested in the mod would be willing to chip in. Everyone says: "no, but I'd be willing to pay xx$ bucks once it's done." (yeah, right, me too, it's so easy once it's done!!) 4- User a pays the full amount (only way to see the mod take off). Since coder can't sell any copies for the original production price, price goes down dramatically or mod is released for free (not much else the coder can do! this is perfectly understandable). 5- User a needs another mod. (Go back to 1.)6- User a goes bankrupt.  (and has to turn to free BBs?)7- User a would like to chip in to see some ideas get developed, but there doesn't seem to be a way to achieve this...  I wish there was a mod like Michael's donation mod that would faccilitate some kind of mini-crowd sourcing to see smaller projects take off. Both the coding community and the comunity of IPB users would benefit from this...
  2. [BBCODE ] Score Place

Could you please provide a little more information on how exactly the mod works? Is that image what it'll look like once the data is inserted? So, I just add something like: Real Madrid 4 - Bayern Munich 0 between the bbcode and that's it?
  3. Polling improvements please

I know this is a little old, but guest votes are still not possible in ipb, are they? I'd be interested in a mod that allowed this (and recorded the guest's ip so that he couldn' vote again) on the same poll.
  4. 4.0: Charts & Graphs

I think this is great! :) By the way, some of you might be interested in the "Google charts bbcode" (which works with ipb 3.4.5) already available in the marketplace:   ipb thinkbox inspired by the marketplace? ;)
  5. Keyword Tooltips

Absolutely outstanding mod. Can be used as a glossary to help your users with unusual words, as non intrusive publicity, etc.   Really easy to set up, you can use images with text, supports foreign characters, you can use either one word or a multiple words, etc. Check it out!
  6. I'm not sure if the Market place search system is any good, but I've always had trouble finding things. Here are examples which you can try yourself: - Try to find the FAQ system by HQ. If you type "FAQ", nothing will be found. If you type "questions", nothing will be found. If you type the name of the app, [HSC] FAQ System nothing will be found!. If you try "system", 17 pages, but I couldn't be bothered... - I remember Adriano made a lottery mod. I typed "lottery" and found just one app, the points system, which isn't his. I went to Adriano's profile, but only some of his recent apps can be found. :-? why can we get a list of all the apps by a coder? IT's not the first time I've had trouble finding apps that I know exist...
  7. Animated Site Intro Block

Very nice indeed. Are you planning any html 5 versions? Some users on mobile devices won't be able to see the demo at present...
  8. Customer blogs are gone. Why?

I just noticed the other day that customers are no longer allowed to write blogs on this site. I understand that staff blogs are probably more important and a way for you guys to stay in touch with the community and keep us up to date and everything, but I think it would be nice to give us some personal space where we could write our blogs, even if it's in a different category or something, not to mention that the blog app would get a bit more exposure...
  9. User Geolocation Restriction

"My certainty about the legitimacy of the above numbers comes from the fact that my community is 100% Greek spoken, so I doubt any member coming from those countries wanted to become an active member of it for any reason other than for spamming."   Really?? er... what about Greek Speaking People living in those countries?
  10. hey, you need to fix your homepage url. I'm afraid you can only leave one. You wrote two down and it concatenated them into a dead page.

  11. Quoting Michael (the guy behind the tutorials, the shoutbox, etc.) "I'm seriously contemplating getting out of the IP.Board world". Why don't you visit and tell him why he shouldn´t?

  12. IP.Board 3.1 Requirements Checker results

Sorry to open this again, but I had the same problem (suhosin.request.max_varname_length: 350 or better recommended, mine host having set it at 64) and my host said the following:"Unfortunately, We do not allow such changes to be made in our shared hosting environment. If you wanted to be able to make these changes, you would need a VPS or dedicated server package with us.Is changing that setting such a burden for them? such a big fuss? I don't even use Furl... because to me, it seems like they wanna grab the opportunity to try and make a quick buck.
  13. [Suggesttion] Follow a member (like Twitter)

That's an awesome suggestion, Tonami, I'd love that too! Empower the "friendship" concept in ipb!
  14. I think superficiality has gained ground, no question about it. But the future of forums remains bright. In fact, I think they will experience a "renaissance". Every community and even every educational institution should have one, what better way to teach kids about democracy and to express their opinions? I'd make participation mandatory! It is possible to keep, say, a school community perfectly under control using a forum. Now, can you do that in the facebook jungle? People should also participate more often in political decisions. A forum is the ideal place for that. Can you imagine doing something like that in facebook? :D I can't stand facebook. I've tried playing some games there, and it's such an incredible pest! I mean, they tell you you're gonna play a wonderful game, and after you give them all kinds of permissions (Why TF do I have to give them any permissions??) the game takes for ever to load. I mean it!! and then they tease me with this repetitive "invite your friends to take part". And then they want my money!! And then, everytime I play, they tell everyone about it using my name!! and there's publicity everywhere. It's horrible!! ###### them! Install an arcade on your forum, nice, clean, quiet, fast. I've tried creating different profiles on facebook. But people I don't want to talk to always find me. It's got to do with the way facebook works and uses algorithms which have to do with your name, your email, the school you went to... just a small piece of data is enough. I want to have an account which has nothing to do with my professional profile, and this is basically impossible unless you lie. Which of course I do, but it's a pest. I hate it. A lot of forum admins use twitter, facebook, g+... but they're still admins. The content which you come accross in some forums is so far superior to 140 letters thougths... (ok, not always, lol, but you know what I mean). Hey, I like to read stuff that people have invested a little time on, and if I can integrate all the twitter crap in my forum if I want to, all the better. I hate the limitations to express myself on sites like facebook, twitter, and many others. It's just a different universe... not even a parallel one!! :D And also... do not forget the growing mass of people who really hate facebook´s shallowness, commerciality and growing privacy invasion . It's a force not to be understimated... it's a force to be reckoned with. Evil must be destroyed! I do like though. Pretty useful and really socially oriented. (and hey, I also like twitter). I do agree that Invision (and others) cannot sleep on their laurels though...
