  1. Mac mini or not ?

You might want to upgrade to a 1TB Fusion drive since they are much faster and it isn't too much of an increase in price. I also bought one with the 5400RPM drive but I intend to replace it later on. You can't replace the RAM at all on it though, so consider if 8GB will be enough for the life of the computer. If not, you might want to just go with 16GB (that's what I did).
  2. Full Text Editor on Mobile Devices

You can modify what toolbar buttons show up in each platform (Desktop, Tablet, Phone). As an example, I added the font color option to the "Phone" toolbar and took a screenshot of how it looks on my phone. I changed the color to blue by tapping on the newly-added button:
  3. Pages

Unfortunately, I am not able to find an answer on that. URL rewriting attempts to direct forums.domain.com to a physical forums folder (which doesn't exist). It is worth mentioning that I am running on an IIS8.5 box.. not sure if this would be easier on a Linux/Apache box. Someone from IPS might have a better answer than me.
  4. Pages

Here's what I set up: https://www.sinisterorigins.com/ On that site, the "Pages" app is loading by default (I moved my IPS4 installation to the root folder). When I click on "Forums" at the top, I am brought to https://www.sinisterorigins.com/forums/, which loads the forums app. This matches the behavior of the site you mentioned (prideofnottingham.co.uk). You have to have "Friendly URLs" turned on to get this behavior to work correctly.
  5. Pages

You can turn off the board wrapper in your pages app so that it's not included when you load domain.com. This gives you full control over how it looks... it doesn't have to look anything like the forum skin.
  6. Pages

You can easily accomplish this by doing the following: Install (or move) your IPS4 installation to the root directoryIn AdminCP, under System > Site Features > Applications, click the Star next to "Pages" to set it as the default appDone!Your forums will still work under http://www.site.com/forums (because forums is no longer default) and your root domain will automatically show the pages app.
  7. When is IPB 4.0 ?

It's also quite a competitive market. A competitor can release a new major version of their software (and then subsequently release 33 betas... but whatever), so in order to keep people interested in IPS products, IPS releases a few details on the next version. Is it a bit early? It could be. But a major x.0 release takes a lot more time than a 3.x or 4.x release. It also appears that this suite is going through one of the biggest evolutions, ever (at least from my point-of-view). I think it also has to do with IPS Staff getting excited about the new version as it evolves. I imagine they are just as excited to push the next version out as you or I will be when we get our hands on it.
  8. IP.Converge question

If you ban the user in IP.Converge, this will block them from all sites from what I can tell. It doesn't actually switch each member account on each forum to the "Banned" group... it just claims that their login is incorrect.
  9. VGA vs. HDMI on Same Monitor

So, here's something interesting: I just bought two Gateway FHD 2303L monitors at Best Buy. My laptop (ASUS U52F) has an HDMI out and a VGA out. I connect one monitor via HDMI and the other via VGA and... they don't look the same. Same resolution (1920x1080), same factory defaults, same everything... except the connections. The HDMI doesn't actually produce deep enough blacks or bright enough whites... so VGA actually looks way better. I even tried flipping the connections putting VGA and HDMI in the opposite monitors, and the "brightness" issue transferred over to the other monitor. Is this normal? Is there any way to fix it? Video Card and Monitor settings seem to have little effect. Thanks, Garrett
  10. So... there are some MSSQL Bugs

The links in my first post link to several of the actual errors.
  11. I know I've only submitted my issues with MSSQL in the past day or two, but I've noticed some bugs that have gone unfiled for more than a month... some surprisingly show-stopping bugs. I figured I'll provide a summary to see if I can poke someone to try and get this stuff fixed. This example prevents me from assigning templates to the articles system because of what user Matt (FDNZ) says is a database ID issue. I also can't edit the default article templates because the system reports that there aren't any. adding custom templates doesn't fix this, either. This, in turn, prevents me from changing the templates in the article system. There's also a different bug report that prevents me from adding pages at all. There is also a problem with sorting by custom fields, and filtering by custom fields, preventing any type of sorting outside of the date-specific ones. Any chance these can get looked at and fixed soon? IP.Content on MSSQL is basically unusable with these bugs in the way. =/
  12. Convert from MySQL to MSSQL?

Ah, thanks for the tip. I already have mySQL and SQL Server on the same server, so I'll try that. :) Thanks, Garrett
  13. Hello, I want to convert from MySQL to MSSQL Driver. Is it possible to convert existing forums over? Thanks, Garrett
