Categories Page FURL (for articles)

Posting here per the guidance of the IPS help desk...

Interesting issue here...IP.Content wide, not just my installation.

The below link should take me to the formatted "Categories View" page, but it doesn't.

http://www.mywebsite.com/categories

Instead, I have to use this:

http://www.mywebsite.com/?view=categories

Why is that? It seems like a large oversight on the developers part. Am I right? I mean, most of us have categories for our articles so shouldn't we get a category page for them...just like we do for the custom databases that we create?

Anyone? I know I'm not the only one wondering about this...or am I?

I'm not sure why you believe the link "hxxp://www.mywebsite.com/categories" "should take [you] to the categories view page", as it won't. There are FURL conflicts that occur in such a scenario (what if you had a category called "categories"?).

Category listing is accessed via the ?view=categories link at present.

I agree with you Kevin. The SEO friendliness of the URLs in IP.Content is an absolute mess. One day IPS will take the issue more seriously. I hope.
